Canoeing Routes in Kuhmo

The Tar route is about 60 km long. The Tar route starts from the north Kuhmo at lake Änättijärvi and continues through the lake chain Lentiira-Iivantiira-Lentua and lake Lammasjärvi toward the centre of Kuhmo.  

The Jongunjoki river route is 70 km long and starts from south-east Kuhmo. This wilderness route is the most popular river route and has also the best service facilities. The route is navigable from Teljo downwards throughout the summer. 

The Kalliojoki river route starts from north-east Kuhmo from the hiking area of Iso-Palonen as a string of pearl-shaped little ponds and continues through a river dotted by small lakes to  Lentua and from there on to Kuhmo. On lake Lentua route joins in Tar route.
